Sneaker Wave 06:10
All eyes on the horizon, I think I see a big thing coming. I sent my aspirations scrambling out there over the rocks. Look out to the skyline, I think I see that big wave forming. I turned my back on the water, when I turned my back on you. When I saw the tide was set against you, And I feared the rocks would rise to greet you, I did what any good coward would do, yeah I swam away. Now there's a big wave coming And I think it's getting ready to crash down over me. There's a big wave coming, And I think it's getting ready to... I could wander for miles on that exposed sand. I could wander forever in that moonscape land. I could sink forever in that widening expanse. Oh there's a big wave coming And I think it's getting ready to crash down over me. Oh there's a big wave coming, And I think it's getting ready to... I didn't know my strength was bound to falter, But surely as I am my mother's daughter, Surely as the winner's luck will alter... When that big wave crashes I'm gonna be sinking down. Oh there's a big wave coming, and I think it's getting ready to... He offered me all that I wanted, So I took more than I needed, Such was my reckless desire.

Monsters 05:01
Oh fearful friend, Seems you're coping oh so very well, Runnin' up against that wall. And oh, clemency, I've done some things you won't believe. Keepin' one more escape up my sleeve, Wondrin' what the hell you think of me, It's just another ordinary day, In a dangerous year. But would you think it queer, If it all just up and puff of smoke and suddenly Disappeared? And oh, innocence, Those angry words made such short work of it. Thinkin' it's an ordinary feat, Dinin' with those cannibal police, Waiting patiently to take your place, At a dangerous table. But what would you do, If they ever finally do, Set their sights on you? Oh tragedy, You won't believe this anyway, But there be monsters here.

Mythologies 04:02
Coy Daphne dreamed of getting even, For all that asshole cupid forced her to be. So she reached down her slender-fingered branches, And struck Apollo down with a blade destined for me. Then Hades was all buzzin' somethin' wicked. Charon was all pomp and celebrity. When all at once Beelzebub stole Orpheus' lyre Broke it into pieces and tossed it upon the fire. Singin' "Bury me, bury me, neon Jesus! This old soul's landed feet first in my grave. Shoot me down, shoot me down, shoot me down, Persephone. Dust me off in the mornin' when it all starts up again." I followed Dante up into the mountains, Seekin' an accomplice to dignity. All we found there was a puppet-show perdition, A punch-and-judy mockup tragedy. He's got a wife that he can't stand up there in heaven, Where they refuse entry to the likes of you and me. She's got a voice she would use if you could hear it; But until that day she self-censors for free. She sings "Bury me, bury me, neon Jesus, Give me something I can drink to make me brave." Shoot me down, shoot me down, shoot me down, Beatrice, She doesn't speak much but we should listen when she says "Why don't you run with me to the waters of California? Let's run until we run right out of land. And when we run into that mighty, mighty Pacific, Oh let's hope and pray the ocean spits us back." Bury me, bury me, neon Jesus, This old soul's landed feet-first in her grave. Shoot me down, shoot me down, shoot me down, Persephone. Dust me off in the morning, when it all starts up again.

Meteor 04:18
If I can grin it, you can bear it; I may not win it, but I can share it. I can manage it all, I swear it, So just take that hair-shirt and wear it. Don't back me into a corner, I'm all angles and teeth And I'm not afraid to show 'em. These are desperate times we're livin' in, Survival of the fittest men, There's a devil slumbering beneath my skin, If you jostle me you might just wake him again. Don't touch me, I'm all coiled up, I've got teeth out, claws sharpened Ready to spring into action. Don't push me, I'm all rattles and venom But I could shed that skin If you'd only let me try! So take those bloodied blades, and clean them. While the creature was slain in the mayhem, I had no idea I'd become him, I'd eat my own tail to destroy him. I'd rip out my own heart in order to grieve, But if you can't beat 'em then maybe it's time you should Leave 'em. I'll hiss and I'll scream Like a banshee on fire, But I can tell you one thing, You'll never see me cry! And in the night alone, I'll crumble. Pugnacious as they come, And after all is said and over and done, It's all really just one big terrible sum Of the wasp on the window And the chip in the glass, And the crack that's movin' up the wall. Straining and breaking under the weight of it, Making a god damn scene of it.

Baker/Abel 04:34
Last night I dreamt a clear lagoon. The air was satin and blue and I was thinkin' of you. I was mad, I was bad, I was floating, I was the Arkansas. A near miss was the last thing I saw. ROGER: BAKER, CAIN, ABEL. ROGER: BAKER, CAIN, ABEL. Last night I went down to the crossroads. I saw Rita Hayworth drinkin' with the Devil. I was the wind, I was wired, I was on fire, I was drownin'. When they shot her down, the clock started counting. ROGER: BAKER, CAIN, ABEL. ROGER: BAKER, CAIN, ABEL. Last night I dreamt of the Enola Gay. Her brightest hour, her darkest day. I saw a fat man, I saw a little boy, and I saw all of his toys. And it's a minute after midnight and I'm dancin' with you To the end of the world. ROGER: BAKER, CAIN, ABEL ROGER: BAKER, CAIN, ABEL Keep calm and carry on, Keep calm and carry on.

Sisyphus 05:10
Bare, the earth beneath my toes, The floor, the floor, where did it go? I tossed my sleep out on the weeds, The tangles caught that careless dreamin'. And Camus must have laughed, To see me smile at what I should've seen comin'. I know how Sisyphus felt, Slouching back down the mountain. Dust yourself off, back to work you go! Pick yourself up, time to shift that stone, again. And heave-ho! I bent my back across the wheel, I wrenched my neck out of due diligence. The work it needs the sweat, the blood The rock it rolls, the rock, it rolls. Dust yourself off, back to work you go! Shift that stone or the weight will take you down. Get up and go, and heave ho!

Faster 03:33
I'm gonna sprint on tippy-toes, pitch my voice down low I'm gonna swallow some hours in darkened bars Just to show I mean business. Carving a lipstick grin across my grit, an uncomfortable fit, At least I'll look the part as I pick up the pieces. You gotta be a rock, Be a rockstar, baby Just to keep the lights on in this town. Sign on the line, Take your life out on credit, And burn it to the ground when you're done. Can you keep up with this fight I found? Will you still love me when it's all falling down? Does it look like I am fucking around over here? Oh honey, don't look now, I've sampled some religion. I gave it my soul, I gave it my all, And now I'm sellin' some of my own. Oh honey, don't stop when you're stretchin' thin. We are the closest, we are the closest we have ever been. I'm gonna be a rock, be a rockstar, baby Just to keep the lights on in this town. Signing on the line, I took my life out on credit, And I'll burn it to the ground when I'm done! Can you keep up with this fight I've found? Will you still love me when it's all falling down? Does it look like I am fucking around over here? The past is gonna getcha The past is gonna getcha If you don't run, run, run faster. The past is gonna getcha The past is gonna getcha If you don't run, run Can you keep up with this fight I've found? Will you still love me when it's all falling down? Does it look like I am fucking around? Oh my love, you're gonna wear yourself out.

The Party 02:41
Get your hand off the small of my back, We're three short seconds away from a panic attack. Rinse your mouth and survey the room; All these sharp-dressed little shivers will patiently listen to you. Oh the kid is going hunting, The kid is going hunting at the party. Intoxicated by the moonlight Stretched across the ceiling. The eye begets the lie begets the lie begets the lie That my thigh begets my time, what's that got to do with you and I. So crawl your fingers from the trace of my spine, You've studied it enough to grow your own, why the hell do you still need mine? The kid is going hunting, The kid is going hunting at the party. Intoxicated by the moonlight Splattered on the ceiling. Pins and needles! Pins and needles! Prolix posturing peacock pedantry! Pompous pedagogue, And that whole lot of whisky words Are the sick breath at my hind, Have another drink and wander off into the night Oh, but you'd better practice that winnin' smile, sweetie, In case I ever catch you in my headlights.

If you're lonely, find a lover. Hold them close up to your heart. Innocence, or impotence? Empathy ain't gonna write itself. If you would wound me with your words, Go and sharpen yourself a safer sword. Take the time, to do it right. Make sure the cuts, they come out clean. And if you're angry, go ahead and be angry babe, Just keep your hands where I can see 'em.
10.
The ground, it held its weight tonight, The callous workings of my troubles. Shoulders restless in their beds, Fear and loathing come home to nest. The dawn will break a ruby sun, Prodigal clouds and bad omens. The mind, it aches, the soul, it dreads. I think I'm in over my head! But it will be alright If I keep a weather eye. All the heat, pressure, and time That I dealt the Devil for my diamonds, With good behavior I could get a little more of mine, And I sure could use the peace of mind. I know what you're thinking. California dreaming, When California's burning. It will be alright And when we finally get together We'll make our own weather When we finally get together We'll make our own weather And it will be alright What if a storm is coming? What If they set the sky on fire? What if the stars fall from the sky And burn the spark out of your eyes? What if they finally do it? I burned my years searching for a sign. Until this all blows over, I'll keep a weather eye. Call it wishful thinking.
